Ferenc Rados

Ferenc Rados (born October 26, 1934 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian pianist and university teacher.

Life

Ferenc Rados was a pupil of Pál Kadosa at the Budapest Conservatory and completed postgraduate studies at the Moscow Conservatory . Rados was active as a soloist in Hungary, made recordings with Hungaroton and was a professor for piano and chamber music at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music for many years until 1996 . Since then he has been giving master classes worldwide. His many students include the musicians Christoph Ehrenfellner , Søren Nils Eichberg , Zoltán Kocsis , Stephan Rahn , Dezső Ránki , András Schiff , Balázs Szokolay , Arno Waschk , Soojin Anjou and Dénes Várjon .

He is considered an unyielding piano teacher, but "he doesn't tell the student what to do, he knows how to ask the appropriate questions." (Student Leonidas Kavakos )

Rados has received several awards in Hungary, he received the Hungarian State Prize in 1980 and 2004, the Bartók-Pásztory-díj in 1997 and the Kossuth-díj in 2010 .
