Andreas Rudas

Andreas Rudas (born November 30, 1953 in Budapest ) is an Austrian media manager and former politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

After graduating from high school, Rudas studied medicine at the University of Vienna . During his studies he was involved in the study group of socialist medical students in student politics.

From 1975 to 1981 Rudas was a senior employee of the Association of Vienna Youth Centers , then until 1983 employee of the SPÖ Central Secretariat. From 1983 to 1986 Rudas was press spokesman for the then Interior Minister Karl Blecha . Because of this function, Rudas was later summoned as a witness in the two parliamentary committees of inquiry into the Lucona affair and the Noricum scandal .

In 1986 Rudas switched to ORF : The then general manager Thaddäus Podgorski hired him as press spokesman. Podgorski's successor, Gerhard Zeiler , promoted him to general secretary of the station. In this role he was responsible for business planning, media policy, marketing and the then new technology of satellite TV.

In 1997 Rudas switched to politics. Under Federal Chancellor Viktor Klima he was the SPÖ Federal Managing Director and together with Josef Kalina and Heinz Lederer he was considered one of the Chancellor's three spin doctors , a novelty in Austria at the time. His niece Laura Rudas was also the SPÖ federal manager.

From 2000 he was a member of the board of Magna , in the same year he became vice-president of the soccer club FK Austria Wien .

He left Magna in 2005 and from then on held leading positions at the WAZ media group Vienna and was also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of JoWood Productions Software AG. As WAZ head for Southeast Europe, he started the South East Europe Media Forum (SEEMF), an annual conference of media people from Southeast Europe, together with Srgjan Kerim (WAZ media group) and Oliver Vujovic ( SEEMO ). In December 2008, he moved from WAZ to the board of the RTL Group . As with WAZ, Rudas is responsible for business in Eastern and Southeastern Europe. Rudas was brought to RTL by RTL CEO Gerhard Zeiler .
