Andreas Salm

Andreas Salm (* 1957 ) is a German clarinetist , composer , musicologist and music teacher .

Life

Salm learned to play the clarinet on the Boehm system, which is not widely used in Germany . His education included studying clarinet with Endré Homoki and at the Hanover Music Academy with Hans Deinzer , as well as studying composition in Prague with Pavel Blatný and in Birmingham with Andrew Downes . After completing his clarinet studies in 1981, he worked as a composer and musician for various artistic institutions, such as the Westphalian State Theater , as a clarinetist together with the Helian Quartet and the Trio ad libitum , of which he is a founding member and which specializes in contemporary performance Specializes in music. His compositions have been recorded and broadcast several times for radio broadcasts.

In addition to his work as an interpreter and composer, Salm received his doctorate in 2005 from the University of Central England in Birmingham, where he also taught composition.

Salm is also active as a chess player for the Lilienthal chess friends and is in charge of public relations for the Bremen State Chess Association
