Andreas Scherer (theologian)

Andreas Scherer (* 1967 ) is a German Protestant theologian . Since 2007 he has been a Hebrew lecturer at the Institute for Old Testament at the University of Hamburg .

Life

From 1987 to 1994 he studied Protestant theology in Münster , Heidelberg , Tübingen and Bochum . From 1994 to 2007 he held various positions at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the Ruhr University Bochum , where he obtained his doctorate in the Old Testament in 1998 and his habilitation in 2004.

His main research interests are the Hebrew language and the Old Testament, wisdom literature (especially Proverbia and Job), poetry, Deuteronomic history (especially the Book of Judges), prophecy and the religious history of Israel.
