Andreas Schminck

Andreas Schminck (* 1947 in Frankfurt am Main ; † December 15, 2015 ) was a German legal historian . His research area was the history of Byzantine law .

Life

Andreas Schminck studied law at the University of Frankfurt from 1966 to 1970 ; In 1971 he passed the first state examination in law and in 1974 the second state examination in law. From 1974 to 1989 he worked on a DFG project on Byzantine legal history under the direction of Dieter Simon . In 1984 he received his Dr. iur. PhD. From 1990 until his retirement in 2012 he was a research associate at the Research Unit Editing and Processing Byzantine Legal Sources at the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen at the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History in Frankfurt.
