Andreas Schneider (born October 13, 1956 ) is a former Thuringian soccer player. For BSG Motor Suhl , he played between 1984 and 1985 in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR Football Association .

Until 1978, the 1.80 m tall tailor, a maintenance mechanic by profession, played in the company sports association (BSG) Chemie IW Ilmenau , most recently in the second-rate GDR league . In November 1978 he was drafted into military service for 18 months and assigned to the Vorwärts Bad Salzungen Army Sports Association . There he first played in the fourth-rate district class Suhl, after the 1978/79 season he rose with the team in the district league Suhl .

In July 1980 Schneider joined the GDR league club BSG Motor Suhl. 1983/84 he was in the team that fought for promotion to the league. With his 29 appearances in the 30 league games played, he played a major role in this success. In the league season 1984/85 he belonged again to the player base with 19 point games in 26 matches played and was usually used by coach Ernst Kurth as a stopper . Schneider was responsible for the fact that Motor Suhl was at the end of the season with 92 goals conceded to the worst team in the 14th field of the Oberliga and had to relegate again after a year of membership in the first division.

After relegation Schneider played three more seasons with Motor Suhl in the GDR league. For the 1988/89 season, the now 31-year-old returned to his old community Chemie IW Ilmenau, which had been relegated to the district league the year before. In his first season he helped the Ilmenau to return to the GDR league, where he was active for another season.
