Quotes from Schulze

“Without feeling for rhythm, one should rethink making music and writing. It's all about mood, interesting structures and an arc of tension. Sixteen bars of verse, twelve bars of intermediate section and eight bars of refrain are not enough. Like the music, my stories want to be unpredictable. "

Press review

“Among the texts that were available, Mr. Ostertag macht Geräusche convinced the five-member jury, which included the author Andreas Steinhöfel , with its sophisticated structure, the confident language and, last but not least, the original idea. In addition, Julian's time travels are not portrayed from the boy's inner perspective, but rather that with Preben Kaas a distanced narrator is established who leads through the text enigmatically and thus asks the reader to form his own picture of the plot - sometimes even past the narrator. So Mr. Ostertag makes noises in its structure a demanding book and precisely by fascinating reading for young readers aged about fourteen years. "
