Andreas Solymosi ( pronunciation : [ ʃojmoʃi ]; born October 13, 1947 in Budapest ) is a German-Hungarian mathematician, professor of computer science at the Beuth University of Technology in Berlin and the author of several books.

Career

After graduating from high school in Budapest, Solymosi studied mathematics from 1966 to 1971 at the Leningrad State University . He has lived in Germany since 1972. He received his doctorate in computer science in 1978 from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg on the subject of synthesis of analyzing automata based on formal grammars . He then studied at Stanford University in California with a DAAD scholarship . Since 1989 he has been the scientific director of APSIS GmbH.

In 1989 he was appointed professor at the Technical University of Applied Sciences in Berlin . Here he teaches a. a. Programming languages and software engineering . He deals with the didactics of programming and was among the first to publish textbooks for beginners based on the (discussed) principle of “objects first”. As a former Marxist and avowed Christian, he is involved in the non-denominational student movement Campus for Christ in addition to his local church community .
