Andreas Trauttner

Andreas Trauttner (born May 12, 1702 in Heusenstamm near Offenbach , Germany , † February 20, 1782 in Rüdesheim ) was a German surveyor and map maker.

Life

Trauttner was born in Heusenstamm as the son of Johann Gottfried Trauttner , a schoolmaster by profession and his wife Maria. There he also spent his childhood. In 1724 he moved to Eltville am Rhein . Trauttner's first wives and children died. With his third wife Margarete, whom he married in Eltville in 1735, he moved to Rüdesheim in 1739 as an officially appointed geometer and surveyor of the Electoral Mainz Rheingau . He lived and worked there until his death in 1782.

The Kurmainzer Trauttner created around 80 cards in the course of his life.

He is known for his maps of the Eberbach Monastery (1753) and those of the Binger Forest in 1773 (TOTH 2010).
