Jakob Gottberg († after 1614 ) was a Swedish admiral .

family

Jakob Gottberg came from the Pomeranian Gottberg family . He is to a brother, at least first cousin, the two in 1595 by the Emperor ennobled have been Paul Gottberg († 1629) and Peter Gottberg (1634 †). He was a son of the goldsmith in Stargard Peter Gottberg († 1595) and Anna Scheele. His undisputed uncle was the mother brother and Swedish imperial admiral Joachim Scheele . Jacob was married to Margarete Klover. The marriage remained childless, the above Paul Gottberg entered Jacob's legacy.

Life

From 1594 to 1599 Gottberg was initially a sea captain, most recently on a ship in Gyllenhielm's fleet. Within two months he was promoted to commandant of a battleship and then, on May 28, 1599, sailed to Kalmar as a sub-admiral . On October 10, 1600 Gottberg was the Swedish commander or governor in Pernau . On November 17, 1601, his uncle Joachim Scheele appointed his brother Paul to this position. From 1602 to 1611 Gottberg held the rank of sub-admiral, but was finally promoted to admiral on July 31, 1611.

His stud book for the period 1591 to 1613 is kept in the Kungelia biblioteket .
