Andreas Heinrich Trebels (born January 9, 1937 ) is a German sports educator and university lecturer .

Life

Trebels worked at the Karlsruhe University of Education before he took up a professorship at the University of Mainz in 1971 . In 1974 he went to the University of Hanover , where he held a professorship at the Institute for Sports Science until his retirement in 2002.

His research focus was on the "dialogical movement concept", in school sport, in questions of gender roles in sport and in the theoretical aspects of sport education within sport science. Trebels dealt with the concepts of mastery of nature and longing for nature, with the feeling of movement, with fairness in sport. In 1983 he published the book “Playing and Moving on Devices”, in which he explained possibilities of movement experiences in gymnastics.

Trebels was founding president of the German Association for Sports Science (DVS) in 1976 and remained in office until 1979. He is credited with giving German sports science in the early years of the association, as chairman, a "publicly perceptible face as an association of persons across all academic status groups". In 2005 Trebels was awarded the DVS Golden Badge of Honor.

He was co-founder and for a long time co-editor of the magazine "Sportpädagogik".
