The German Association for Sports Science e. V. (dvs) is an association of sports science scientists , mainly from Germany , Austria and Switzerland, founded in Munich in 1976 . It represents around 1000 members and is a recognized non-profit association with the aim of promoting and developing sports science and sports sociology in a national and international context.

history

The German Association for Sports Science was founded on October 6, 1976 with 176 attendees in Munich's Hofbräuhaus , and with it the first president, Andreas H. Trebels, was elected. In 1977, the first sports science university day of the dvs was organized on the subject of "Sports science on the way to practice" and the first dvs commission "Practical school studies / teaching research" was founded. Until 2014, a total of 20 additional sports science university days were held in different cities in Germany every two years. In 1978 the German Association for Sports Science became a member of the German Sports Confederation (DSB). In 1981 dvs published its first volume in the series “dvs protocols”, and in the same year the first dvs section, the “sports history” section, was founded. After reunification, sports science from East and West Germany was merged, and with the dissolution of the Committee on German Physical Education, a cooperation agreement was made with the German Sports Teachers Association (DSLV). In addition, the dvs became a member of the “World Council for Sport Science and Physical Education” (ICSSPE). She also worked on the creation of the “Memorandum for the Promotion of Sports Science” by the German Sports Association . In 2003 the dvs adopted the “Professional Ethical Principles for Sports Scientists” and formed an ethics council. A year later, the virtual sports science library went online as a joint project with the ZB Sport, BISp, IAT and FES Bonn. To date, dvs has published many publications, magazines and e-journals.
