Eckart courtship

Eckart Balz (* 1959 ) is a German sports scientist and university professor.

Life

Balz studied sports science, biology and educational science in Bielefeld and Marburg . He passed the second state examination, completed a doctorate and a habilitation.

He worked as a university lecturer at Bielefeld University and, among other things, held professorial positions in Münster. In May 1996 Balz took up a professorship for sports education at the University of Regensburg , in September 2000 he switched to the department of sports education at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .

Until the spring of 2008 he was deputy chairman of the Sports Science Faculty Conference. In 2017, Balz took over the position of Vice President for Education at the German Association for Sports Science .

His main research areas include planning didactics, aspects of school sport and sport development, i.e. "all changes in the culture of exercise over time". Among other things, he led the research projects “Sports teachers between aspiration and reality” (1994/1995), “School sports programs between aspiration and reality” (2000 to 2006), “Health education in school sports” (1989 to 1993) and “School in motion - Claim and Reality ”(2000).
