Tatjana Ruhland (born on August 9, 1972 in Regensburg ) is a German flautist .

Life

Tatjana Ruhland received her training at the Munich University of Music and Theater with Paul Meisen and András Adorján , at the Manhattan School of Music in New York with Jeanne Baxtresser , where she graduated in 1998 with a Master of Music in Orchestral Performance , and at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena with Aurèle Nicolet .

Tatjana Ruhland works as a soloist, chamber musician, teacher and orchestral musician. She appears regularly at festivals such as the Heidelberger Frühling and the Bachwoche Ansbach , the Festival of the German Flute Society , the Beethoven Festival in Bonn, the Würzburg Mozart Festival , the Stuttgart Music Festival , the Rheingau Music Festival , BBC Proms , the Prague Spring and the Festival de Radio France . Tatjana Ruhland was invited by the Heidelberg Spring Festival to premiere a commissioned composition - a flute concerto by David Philip Hefti - in 2019.

Concert tours led her to solo concerts a. a. to Belgium, Italy, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, Argentina and the USA.

Tatjana Ruhland also played in the orchestra of the Bayreuth Festival under Christian Thielemann .

Tatjana Ruhland has been principal flutist in the SWR Symphonieorchester since 2000 (until 2016 Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart ). As part of this activity and as a guest of other radio and concert orchestras, she performed a. a. in concerts in the Suntory Hall Tokyo, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam , the London Royal Albert Hall , the Berlin Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus Berlin , the Wiener Musikverein and Konzerthaus Wien and the Tonhalle Zurich .

As a soloist Tatjana Ruhland a. a. with the following orchestras: SWR Symphony Orchestra , Bavarian State Orchestra Munich, Berlin Symphony Orchestra , Prague Symphony Orchestra , Bach Collegium Stuttgart , Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn . In December 2019 she made a guest appearance with the Berliner Philharmoniker with Claude Debussy's Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune . She is chamber music partner of Hilary Hahn , Wen-Sinn Yang , Emmanuel Pahud , Angela Hewitt , Matthias Goerne , Christine Schäfer , Christina Landshamer , Eckart Heiligers , Matthias Höfs , Christian Schmitt and Yaara Tal .

Tatjana Ruhland gives master classes in Europe, Japan and the USA. She was a guest lecturer at the Manhattan School of Music and the Juilliard School in New York, as well as at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and the Orchesterzentrum NRW in Dortmund. From 2009 to 2017 she taught a flute class at the Saar University of Music in Saarbrücken. The musician is a juror at international competitions in Germany and Japan. She is a member of the jury and the advisory board of the German Music Competition .

Tatjana Ruhland is married to the concert organist Christian Schmitt .
