Wen-Sinn Yang

Wen-Sinn Yang (* 1965 in Bern ) is a Swiss cellist of Taiwanese descent.

Life

Wen-Sinn Yang studied with Claude Starck at the Conservatory in Zurich and with Wolfgang Boettcher at the Berlin University of the Arts . He attended master classes with János Starker and David Geringas . In 1989, Yang was hired as principal cellist in the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra . In 1991 Wen-Sinn Yang won first prize at the Geneva International Music Competition .

Yang has given concerts as a soloist with such well-known conductors as Lorin Maazel , Sir Colin Davis , Wolfgang Sawallisch and Semjon Bytschkow . As a chamber musician , Wen-Sinn Yang is a member of the Kandinsky Trio and the Trio Schäfer, Then-Bergh, Yang . He also played as a partner at the side of Julia Fischer , Lisa Batiashvili , Thomas Brandis , Auryn Quartet , Ingolf Turban , Hermann Voss and Eduard Brunner .

From 1995 to 1997 he taught at the Saarbrücken University of Music . From 1998 to 2011 Yang was artistic director of the Domleschger Summer Concerts in Switzerland. In 2005 Wen-Sinn Yang was appointed professor for violoncello at the University of Music and Theater in Munich .
