David Philip Hefti

David Philip Hefti (born April 13, 1975 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss composer and conductor .

Live and act

Hefti studied composition, conducting, clarinet and chamber music in Winterthur, Zurich and Karlsruhe with Wolfgang Rihm , Wolfgang Meyer and Elmar Schmid. He also received important impulses from Cristóbal Halffter and Rudolf Kelterborn .

In addition to his compositional work, David Philip Hefti is a guest conductor in various orchestras and ensembles. As a composer and conductor he performs a. a. at the ultrasound festivals in Berlin, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , Heidelberg Spring , Musica de Hoy in Madrid, Wien Modern , Steirischer Herbst in Graz, Menuhin in Gstaad, Beijing Modern , Suntory in Tokyo, Dvorak Festival in Prague and as composer-in -residence at the Moritzburg Festival , at the Schlossmediale Werdenberg and at the Heidelberg Philharmonic . Concerts connect him with soloists such as Fabio Di Càsola, Thomas Grossenbacher, Viviane Hagner , Thomas Indermühle , Cornelia Kallisch, Wolfgang Meyer , Sylvia Nopper, Hartmut Rohde , Baiba Skride , Jan Vogler , Antje Weithaas and conductors like Douglas Boyd , Péter Eötvös , Howard Griffiths , Cornelius Meister , Kent Nagano , Jonathan Nott , Michael Sanderling , Jac van Steen , Mario Venzago , Ralf Weikert and David Zinman . Hefti's work leads to collaboration with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra , the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin , the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra , the German Radio Philharmonic , the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra , the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Orchester symphonique de Montréal , the Tokyo Sinfonietta, the Leipzig String Quartet , the Amaryllis Quartet, the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart , the Ensemble Modern and the Collegium Novum Zurich . In 2018 Hefti represented Switzerland (SGNM / ISCM Switzerland) at the ISCM World New Music Days in Beijing.
