Bernd Richard Deutsch (born May 15, 1977 in Mödling ) is an Austrian composer .

Life

Bernd Richard Deutsch grew up in Wöllersdorf in Lower Austria and received composition lessons from Leopold Brauneiss at the Josef Matthias Hauer Conservatory in Wiener Neustadt during his high school years. After graduating from high school, he studied composition with Dietmar Schermann , composition with Erich Urbanner (diploma 2001) and electro-acoustic composition with Dieter Kaufmann at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna from 1995 to 2003 . In addition, he attended a course with Ivana Loudová in 1996 as part of the International Summer Academy Prague – Vienna – Budapest. In 1999 he participated in the 7th International Academy for New Composition and Audio Art in Schwaz / Tyrol (composition with Bogusław Schaeffer , computer music with Marek Chołoniewski ), in 2000 at the Bartók seminar in Szombathely ( Manuel Hidalgo ), in 2011 at the composer-conductor workshop Grafenegg ( HK Gruber , Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich ) and in the same year a master class by Detlev Glanert as part of the composition prize of the Bregenz Festival .

Deutsch lives as a freelance composer in Vienna . He has received commissions from Ensemble die reihe, Erste Bank, Haydn Trio Eisenstadt, Klangspuren Schwaz, ORF, the Austrian Chamber Symphony Orchestra, the State of Lower Austria, the Stuttgart State Theater and the SWR Stuttgart; also from the Wien Modern Festival , where he was one of the main composers in 2013. His works have been performed at the Hanover New Music Biennale, Eclat Stuttgart, the Hörzüge Wien Festival, the Schwaz Klangspuren and the START Festival in Salzburg.
