Thomas Indermühle

Thomas Indermühle (born October 4, 1951 in Bern ) is a Swiss oboist .

biography

Thomas Indermühle was born into a family of musicians in Bern. After studying with Heinz Holliger in Freiburg im Breisgau and with Maurice Bourgue in Paris , he became principal oboist with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra in Amsterdam and with the Rotterdam Philharmonic.

In 1974 Indermühle won the Prague Spring music festival competition . In 1976 he won the ARD International Music Competition with 3rd prize (1st and 2nd prizes were not awarded). Works by David Philip Hefti , Gilles Silvestrini and Akira Nishimura have been dedicated to him.

An important aspect of his work is working with the «Ensemble Couperin», which he founded. Indermühle was appointed professor at the Zurich University of the Arts in 1984 and at the Karlsruhe University of Music in 1989 , and has supervised master classes in Japan , Korea , Australia , Brazil , Spain , Italy , Greece and Mexico .
