Otto Tausk

Otto Tausk (* 1970 in Utrecht ) is a Dutch conductor .

education

Tausk first studied violin with Viktor Liberman and István Párkányi and orchestral conducting with Jurjen Hempel and Kenneth Montgomery. He then continued to study with the Lithuanian conductor Jonas Aleksa at the Vilnius Conservatory .

activity

Tausk debuted at the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater as a stand-in for Valery Gergiev during the Gergiev Festival in 2003. The following year, he first conducted the Rotterdam Philharmonic (with the Symphony no. 5 of Tchaikovsky ) and worked until 2007 as an assistant to Gergiev at Rotterdam's Philharmonic Orcest. In 2007 Tausk became chief conductor of the Holland Symfonia Orchestra and stayed there until 2012.

From 2013 to 2018 Otto Tausk was chief conductor of the symphony orchestra at the Theater St. Gallen (Switzerland).

Since 2018 he has been chief conductor of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra .
