Athanasia Tzanou
Athanasia Tzanou ( Greek Αθανασία Τζάνου ; born June 25, 1971 in Athens ) is a contemporary Greek composer for chamber music and symphonic works.
Tzanou studied piano and composition at the National Conservatory of Music in Athens. She graduated there in 1993. From 1993 to 1998 she studied composition at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, where she also graduated. She rounded off her training with master classes and workshops with Brian Ferneyhough , Karlheinz Stockhausen and Bogusław Schaeffer .
In 2001 she received the Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Prize of the Mozarteum Salzburg and the Johannes Brahms Prize in Hamburg, and in 2004 the prize of the Greek Critics Union of Drama and Music in Athens. In 2006 she received the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation award in Munich.
Her works have been performed at various festivals and contemporary music concerts in various international music centers.
