from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andreas Werner (* before 1632; † 1662 ) was an organ builder in Saxony and Brandenburg .

life and work

He was a son of the organ builder Peter Werner from Leipzig and possibly a brother of the organ builder Johann Werner in Elbing. In 1632 he married Margarete Schultze in Leipzig and probably took over the father's workshop. In 1639 Andreas Werner repaired the organ in the Nikolaikirche in Leipzig and in 1643 in the Nikolaikirche in Spandau . In 1659, Andreas Werner was officially appointed court organ and instrument maker in Berlin . He died in 1662.

His son Johann Christoph Werner (* 1633, buried March 23, 1706) built a positive in the Nikolaikirche in Jüterbog , which today is the oldest surviving mid-tone organ in Brandenburg. In 1667 he was appointed court organ and instrument maker in Berlin.
