Otto Kuntzemüller

Carl Bernhard Otto Kuntzemüller (also: Otto Kuntzemueller and Hermann Oesterwitz ( pseudonym ); born June 28, 1847 in Guben ; † in the 20th century) was a German historian , freemason , author , journalist for various daily newspapers and entrepreneurs.

Life

Otto Kuntzemüller was the son of a factory owner in Guben. After graduating from high school, he studied philology at the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin from 1867 . He was a participant in the Franco-German War in 1870/71. In 1872 he became a candidate for school education at the Guben high school.

With his dissertation " Nithard and his history" at the University of Jena Kuntzemüller on July 24, 1873 to Dr. phil. PhD. In October 1873 he received the post of assistant teacher, in 1875 that of a "full teacher" at the municipal high school in Spandau.

In 1875, the Spandau city council commissioned Otto Kuntzemüller to continue the chronicle of the city of Spandau, which had been interrupted for almost 40 years. As a result, he published the work “Documentary history of the city and fortress Spandau from the origins of the city to the present” in 1881 . It was reprinted several times, most recently in the GDR in 1978 and in West Germany in 1989 .

Until 1891 Otto Kuntzemüller was in charge of the Chemnitzer Tageblatt ; on April 1, 1891, he then moved as "political co-editor and deputy editor-in-chief in the editorial office" of the Hannoversche Couriers .

In Kürschner's German literature calendar from 1912, Kuntzemüller appears as the owner of the Meißler & Co. commercial information agency and publisher in Berlin-Schöneberg .

At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, Otto Kuntzemüller dealt with both the historical newspaper system in Hanover and, under numerous titles, Freemasonry in Europe.
