Andrei Alexejewitsch Schegalow

Andrei Alexejewitsch Schegalow ( Russian Андрей Алексеевич Жегалов ; born May 27, 1964 in Tashkent , Soviet Union ; † January 25, 2007 in Moscow , Russia ) was a Russian cameraman .

Schegalow completed his training as a cameraman with Alexander Galperin in the early 1990s and then worked for Lenfilm . Just three years later he was able to win a Lenfilm competition in the field of professional image guidance, which immediately marked his breakthrough as a cameraman. He made his debut in 1994 in Alexei Balabanov's Castle (Замок). This was followed by film assignments, for which he received awards in the further course of his career, such as Kukushka - The Cuckoo (2002). For this film he was honored with the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of literature and art.

Shegalov was considered one of the most renowned cameramen in Russia when he died at the age of 42 from complications from a heart condition in a Moscow hospital.
