Andrei Alexeyevich Slavnov

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andrei Alexejewitsch Slawnow ( Russian Андрей Алексеевич Славнов , English transcription Andrey or Andrei Slavnov; born December 22, 1939 in Moscow ) is a Russian theoretical physicist.

Slavnov studied physics at Lomonosov University in Moscow with a degree in 1962 and received his doctorate in 1965 at the Steklow Institute in Moscow. Since then he has been working at the Steklow Institute in the Theoretical Physics department, most recently as a senior scientist. In 1972 he completed his habilitation (Russian doctorate) and has been a professor since 1981. Since 1992 he has headed the Quantum Field Theory department and later the Theoretical Physics department at the Steklow Institute. Since 1991 he has also been Professor of Theoretical Physics at Lomonosov University.

Slawnow deals with quantum field theory ( renormalization and non-perturbation theoretical methods), supersymmetry , gauge theories , lattice scale theories .

The Slavnow-Taylor identities for Green's functions in gauge theories are named after him and John C. Taylor , which are important in their renormalization (especially in Yang-Mills theories ).

In 2014 he received the Bogolyubov Gold Medal , in 2013 the Pomeranchuk Prize , in 1999 the Humboldt Research Prize , in 2007 the Fock Prize of the Russian Academy of Sciences and in 1995 the Russian State Prize. In 1987 he became a corresponding and in 2000 a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences .

He is the editor of the journal Theoretical and Mathematical Physics.
