Andrei Borissowitsch Subow ( Russian Андре́й Бори́сович Зу́бов , academic transliteration Andrej Borisovič Zubov; born  January 16, 1952 in Moscow ) is a Russian historian , political scientist , theologian and former professor of the Moscow State Institute for International Relations (MGIMO). (2001–2014).

On March 1, 2014, in a column for the newspaper Vedomosti , he criticized the annexation of Crimea as a “dangerous adventure” and compared Vladimir Putin's approach with the annexation of Austria in 1938. Subov then resigned from MGIMO. The dismissal was withdrawn on April 11, 2014, but his employment contract was no longer renewed and Zubow left MGIMO on June 30, 2014.

In a radio interview, Subov said that Putin's possible motives were not primarily about conquering foreign countries, but rather about dividing Russians and Ukrainians. By discrediting the Euromaidan activists , Putin is trying to prevent similar protests from taking place in Russia.
