Andrew John Martin (born July 6, 1962 in York ) is a British writer.

Life

Andrew Martin studied law at Merton College , Oxford, and passed the barrister exam . Since then he has been working as a freelance journalist and writer. Martin writes for the Financial Times , among others .

Martin's first book was Bilton , a satire about his experiences in journalism. With The Bobby Dazzlers , he satirized the country and people of the north of England. Martin wrote a series of detective novels about railroad policeman Jim Stringer in northern England in the period before World War I. His non-fiction books include the title How to Get Things Really Flat: A Man's Guide to Ironing, Dusting and Other Household Arts and a report about a British escape from the Japanese by elephant in the British colony of Burma during World War II .

Martin also works for radio and television.

Martin lives with his family in north London.
