Andrew Mast

Andrew Mast (born March 26, 1967 in Mason City / Iowa ) is an American music teacher and conductor.

Mast studied music education at the University of Iowa until 1989 and then taught instrumental music at schools in Urbandale and Madrid, Iowa. From 1992 to 1997 he continued his education at the University of Minnesota with Craig Kirchhoff and Paul Haack . At the same time he was head of the school bands at Shakopee High School . From 1997 to 1999 he worked on his dissertation on The History of the Mason City (Iowa) Community and High School Bands, 1920–1999 with mentor Myron Welch .

From 1999, Mast taught conducting and music education at Saint Ambrose University . He was also director of the University Bands, conducted the Symphonic Band and the University Community Orchestra , the Quad City Wind Ensemble and the Quad City Area Youth Wind Symphony . In 2003 and 2004 he taught conducting at the summer camps in Interlochen. In 2004 he became professor at the Lawrence Conservatory of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin, and conductor of the Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Band . In 2006 he was a guest conductor at the Pilsen Conservatory. Mast is the founder and director of the Vincent Persichetti Society .
