Life

Andrew Patterson is from Oklahoma and began working as a freelance producer of video films and commercials after graduating from high school. Over the years Patterson had bought all of the equipment needed to make a movie for his job, including equipment difficult to access in Oklahoma. His production company GED Media in Edmond owned a Movi-Gimbal .

After Patterson and his team had gone through various ideas about what you could do with the Movi-Gimbal and the proposal came up to make a UFO film that is set in the 1950s, he realized with Die Weite der Nacht ( The Vast of Night ) made his feature film debut. In doing so, he incorporated his experience from commercial film productions, for example with regard to the lighting, which was of particular importance for the film. The film was fully funded by him, including screenings at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival , and received very positive reviews from critics, especially considering that Patterson had no film training.
