Andrew Ruhemann

Andrew R. Ruhemann (* in London-Islington in the summer of 1962 ) is a British film producer and director .

Life

Born in the third quarter of 1962, Ruhemann first worked as a producer at Richard Williams Productions ( Wrong Game with Roger Rabbit ). In 1987 he founded the film production company Passion Pictures , which initially specialized in the production of animated films, but later also became active in the film, commercial and music video sectors. Together with John Battsek , Ruhemann also heads the documentary film division at Passion Pictures. The jointly produced documentary One Day in September was awarded an Oscar in 2000.

With The Lost Thing , Ruhemann made his debut as a film director alongside Shaun Tan . In 2011, Ruhemann and Tan received the Oscar for the animated short film.

Awards

In 2003, Ruhemann was nominated for The Dog Who Was a Cat Inside together with Stan Rees and Siri Melchior for a BAFTA Award in the category "Best Animated Short Film", but could not prevail against Gaëlle Denis ' Fish Never Sleep .

In 2011, together with Shaun Tan , Ruhemann was awarded an Oscar in the category “ Best Animated Short Film ” for The Lost Thing . In the same year he also received the SWR Audience Award at the Stuttgart Animated Film Festival.
