Andrew Toney

Andrew Toney (born  November 23, 1957 (62 years and 282 days) in Birmingham , Alabama ) is a retired American basketball player who played for the Philadelphia 76ers in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1980 to 1988 . In allusion to a serial killer (see Albert Henry DeSalvo ) he was also called "the Boston Strangler" after he had contributed 34 points to the victory against the Boston Celtics in the decisive game of the Conference Finals 1982 . The following year he won the NBA championship with the Sixers.

Toney played in the NCAA for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette team before being selected 8th by the 76ers in the 1980 NBA draft . He was nominated for two all-star teams in 1982 and 1983. Due to a foot injury, he was able to play only six games in the 1985/86 season , and finally ended his career two years later.
