Andrew Webb

Andrew "Big Babe" Webb (* around 1900 in St. Louis ; † after 1926) was an American jazz trumpeter and cornet player who was active in the St. Louis music scene throughout his life.

Live and act

Webb played Benny Washington's Six Aces in St. Louis ("Compton Avenue Blues," OKeh 1925); In 1927 he accompanied the blues musician Bert "Snake Root" Hatton on recordings for Vocalion ("Down in Black Bottom / Freakish Rider Blues"). In October 1926 he played in Wilson's TOBA band with Leola B. Wilson ("Steady Roll", Paramount ). In St. Louis, he worked frequently with Harry Dial , Dewey Jackson , Shirley Clay , RQ Dickerson , Harvey Langford and Leonard Davis in the 1920s .
