RQ Dickerson

Roger Quincey "RQ" Dickerson (* 1898 in Paducah (Kentucky) , † January 21, 1951 in Glens Falls ) was an American jazz trumpeter and cornet player .

Dickerson grew up in St. Louis; from 1918 to 1920 he played in various theaters before going on tour with Wilson Robinson Syncopators , who also made a guest appearance at the New York Cotton Club and recorded in 1925 as the Cotton Club Orchestra for Columbia Records ("Down and Out Blues"). The violinist Andrew Preer then took over the band, which from then on traded as The Missourians . Dickerson can be heard as a soloist in "Ozark Mountain Blues" (1929). Dickerson also took part with Harry Cooper , Jasper Taylor and in 1930/31 at Cab Callowayon. In 1931 he left the music business. In the field of jazz he was involved in 22 recording sessions between 1925 and 1931.
