Andrij Scholdak

Andrij Valerijowy Scholdak ( Ukrainian Андрій Валерійови Жолдак ; born November 3, 1962 in Kiev , Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic ) is a Ukrainian theater director .

Scholdak studied at the Moscow State Institute for Theater Arts ( GITIS ), today's Russian Academy for Theater Arts , in the master class of Anatoly Wassiljew .

Scholdak has been the artistic director of the Shevchenko Theater in Kharkiv since 2002 . He has become internationally known with guest performances of his productions in Germany, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Poland, Austria, Romania and Russia. At Theater Oberhausen he has staged stage versions of Henry Miller's Sexus , Dostoyevsky's Idiot and Franz Kafka's story The Metamorphosis since 2009 .

Andrij Scholdak is the great-grandson of Ivan Karpenko-Karyj .
