Andrius Mamontovas
Andrius Mamontovas (born August 23, 1967 in Vilnius , Lithuanian SSR ) is a Lithuanian songwriter , musician and actor .
Life
Andrius Mamontovas founded his first rock band Foje in 1983 while still under socialism . It existed from 1983 to 1997 and played 16 albums. The band was very popular in Lithuania and over the years won all the prizes that Lithuania has to offer in this regard. After independence, the band also toured in European and US clubs. In 1997 Foje gave her farewell concert in Vilnius in front of 60,000 spectators, which is still the national record today. In addition, Mamontovas also devotes himself to acting in films and on stage. He plays Prince Hamlet under the direction of Eimuntas Nekrošius , a play that has been on a world tour for years and has so far been performed 170 times.
After the band Foje broke up , he began a solo career as a musician, which brought him 15 BRAVO (Lithuania) prizes, the Lithuanian equivalent of the Grammy . He got them for the best song , the best album , the best show and the best performance of the year, among other things . In between he wrote film music for short films and for a theater performance of Ivanov by Anton Chekhov at the Teatro Argentina in Rome , also directed by Eimuntas Nekrošius. On the occasion of the celebrations of Lithuania and other countries joining the EU on May 1, 2004, his band was the main act at the Brandenburg Gate . His last success was 6th place in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 together with the Lithuanian all-star band LT United and the song We Are The Winners .
He played his first major film role in the film Nereikalingi Žmonės (literally: " Unneeded people", English title: Loss ), which was released in 2007. He also composed the film music for this film, for which he received the Jin Jue Award for best film music at the Shanghai International Film Festival 2008.
