Andrzej Wróbel (born July 18, 1953 in Bodzechów ) is a Polish legal scholar , university professor, constitutional judge (2011-2017) and judge of the Supreme Court .

Life

Wróbel studied law and administrative sciences from 1972 to 1976 at the Maria Curie Skłodowska University , where he then worked as a research assistant until 1982. In 1982 he received his doctorate in Lublin with a public law thesis for Dr. iur. After research stays and guest lectureships at the universities of Heidelberg , Lviv and Catania , among others , Wróbel completed his habilitation in 1991 in constitutional law, administrative law and European law. From 1994 he worked as a judge at the Sąd Najwyższy, the highest ordinary court in Poland. Since 2002 he has also been Professor of Public Law at the University of Lublin. From 2004 to 2010 he was a professor at the Chair of International and European Law at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.

In 2011, with the support of the opposition parties, he was elected judge at the Trybunał Konstytucyjny, the Polish constitutional court , after he was even smarter with his candidacy the previous year. There, in response to the Polish constitutional crisis in December 2016, he announced the early termination of his term of office, which actually lasted until 2020, and the return to Sąd Najwyższy.
