Anete Jēkabsone-Žogota (born August 12, 1983 in Riga ) is a Latvian basketball player who is 1.76 m tall and plays in the position of shooting guard . She has been with Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA since 2014 and for the Russian club since 2011 UGMK Yekaterinburg is active. She was voted Europe's basketball player of the year 2007 by both La Gazzetta dello Sport and FIBA Europe . In 2008 and 2009 she was voted Latvian Sportswoman of the Year .
National team career
With the Latvian national team Jēkabsone-Žogota, daughter of the former Soviet national player Andris Jēkabsons , took part in the European Championships in 2005 , 2007 and 2009 . At the tournaments in 2007 and 2009 she was elected to the All-Tournament Team , in 2007 she also moved into the semi-finals with the Latvian selection. She also took part in the 2008 Olympic Games .
