Angel Face (Cocktail)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Angel Face ( english around for angel face ) is an alcoholic cocktail of apricot brandy (a liqueur with apricot flavor), Gin and Calvados and one of the short drinks .

history

The Angel Face was first mentioned in writing in 1930 in The Savoy Cocktail Book by bartender Harry Craddock, where it consists of equal parts of the three ingredients. The name is possibly due to the gang criminal Abe Kaminsky, who was also known as "Angel Face". He worked for the Sugar House Gang in Detroit during Prohibition . With regard to the naming, reference is sometimes made to Rick Blaine, main character in the film Casablanca and played by Humphrey Bogart . However, since the film only dates from 1942, it is out of the question as a namesake.

preparation

The International Bartenders Association (IBA) has the cocktail in its list of Official IBA Cocktails in the category The Unforgettables (for example: The Unforgettable ) with 3 cl of each of  the three spirits Apricot Brandy , Gin and Calvados . The ingredients are put into a cocktail shaker , shaken on a lot of ice and then strained into a pre-chilled cocktail glass ; a set is not provided.
