Angela Baddeley

Madeline Angela Clinton-Baddeley , CBE (born July 4, 1904 in London , † February 22, 1976 there ) was an English actress.

Life

Her sister was the actress Hermione Baddeley (1906–1986). The siblings descend in a direct line from the British General Henry Clinton (1738–1795).

In addition to theater engagements in Great Britain and the USA (e.g. 1936 in Emlyn Williams' Night must fall at the Ethel Barrymore Theater in New York City ), Angela Baddeley appeared in English films since 1931 and increasingly in television series since the 1960s. She only gained international popularity in the last years of her life as a cook “Mrs. Bridges ”in the 68-part television series Das Haus am Eaton Place, shot from 1971 to 1975 . Here she was dubbed in the German version by Tina Eilers .

Angela Baddeley that the Order in 1975 Commander of the British Empire was awarded, died at the age of 71 years at a pneumonia . She was married twice and the mother of three children. Her second husband Glen Byam Shaw (1904-1986) was also an actor and temporarily director of the Royal Shakespeare Theater in Stratford-upon-Avon .
