Angela Fiedler

Angela Fiedler (born April 12, 1952 in Lüneburg ; † December 14, 2007 in Berlin ) was a German economist and professor of economics in the Department of Economics I at the University of Applied Sciences for Technology and Economics in Berlin. Her work topics were economics and gender relations, especially gender analyzes in economic policy fields.

Angela Fiedler studied at the University of Münster and at the TU Berlin and received her doctorate in 1990 from the FU Berlin .

Since 1996 she has been a professor of economics at the University of Applied Sciences for Technology and Economics in Berlin, which was later renamed the Berlin University of Technology and Economics (HTW Berlin). Angela Fiedler co-founded the FHTW Women's Council in 1998.

Together with Friederike Maier, the director of the Harriet Taylor Mill Institute at the HWR Berlin , she initiated the economics network efas - economics, feminism and science , which was officially founded in 2000. More than 240 female scientists belong to the network. It is intended to promote gender-related research and courses in economics as well as to network and support women economists, especially young women academics.

Angela Fiedler died of a serious illness in December 2007. Up to this point she was in charge of the efas office. The efas Young Talent Award , which has been announced annually since 2008, has been named after Angela Fiedler . In their spirit, the efas young talent award is aimed at young female scientists who have written an outstanding thesis with a focus on economics and a focus on women and gender studies .
