Franziska Mathilde Angelika Maria Luger , married Angelina von Toto ( April 25, 1858 in Würzburg - February 2, 1910 in Frankfurt am Main ), was a German opera singer ( mezzo-soprano , alto ).

Life

Luger took singing lessons at the royal music school in Munich with Professor Richter and was trained with Louise Weinlich-Tipka in Graz in particular for the art of singing and stage performance. It was there that she made her first attempt on the stage. From there she gave a guest performance at the Stuttgart Court Theater, where she gained a great deal of strength for mezzo-soprano and alto parts and where she developed from a beginner to an effective interpreter of dramatic roles.

In 1881 it came to the court opera theater in Berlin, where it did not stay long because they did not want to use it for first subjects. Thereupon she worked from 1882 to 1883 at the city theater in Leipzig, where she still did not find a sphere of activity that appealed to her.

It was only when she joined the Frankfurt Opera Association in 1884 that she found the ground for lasting, great success. She began her engagement there as “Mignon” and achieved until 1892, the year in which she decided on her artistic career to reach out to Count Totto in the marital union, especially as “Fides”, “Adriano”, “Acuzena”, “ Carmen "," Countess Almaviva "," Queen of Sheba "," Valkyrie "," Recha "," Selica "," Mignon "," Fidelio "etc. have always been the greatest successes. “In the female figures, however, whose basic trait is a great tragic passion whose life element is love, such as“ Fidelio ”,“ Selika ”,“ Mignon ”, is the peculiarity of their artistic personality, with the large size and warm tone of their dark-colored organ and an always finely elaborated representation came to the fore. ”However, it must have worked in the most heterogeneous areas, because it is reported that“ almost all areas from the heroine to the soubrette, from the tragic woman to the comic figure are rich in her Repertoire were represented.
