Wilhelm Franz Loebisch

Wilhelm Franz Loebisch or Vilmos Ferenc (born June 6, 1839 in Pápa , Hungary; † January 15, 1912 in Innsbruck ) was a medical chemist .

family

His father was the district doctor Michael Loebisch. His uncle, Johann Elias Löbisch (1795–1853) had been director of the St. Annen Children's Hospital in Vienna from 1830 onwards. His grandfather, Jonas Löbisch (1761–1839) from Prague, had introduced vaccination as a surgeon in Bohemia.

Career

Loebisch attended the Latin school in Pápa as well as the seventh and eighth grade at the well-known Calvinian high school in Oedenburg . From 1856 he studied medicine in Vienna. In 1863 he was promoted to Dr. med. and in 1866 Dr. chir. PhD. He worked first as a hospital doctor and from 1866 in the Austrian Navy.

In 1869 he went to Tübingen to work in chemistry at Felix Hoppe-Seyler . From 1871 he worked as an assistant with Maly in Innsbruck, from 1872 with Heinrich Hlasiwetz and from 1874 with E. Ludwig in Vienna, where he signed up for med. Chemistry qualified as a professor.

At the University of Innsbruck he was ao in 1878. and four years later full professor.

Loebisch worked in the field of drug theory, urinalysis and forensic medicine issues.
