Prepodobna mati Angelina Srpska ( Serbian - Cyrillic Пребодобна мати Ангелина Српска ; * before 1460; † July 30, 1520 July ) is a saint of the Serbian Orthodox Church . Her holiday is the anniversary of her death on July 30th, which is celebrated on August 12th according to the Gregorian calendar.

Her secular name was Angelina Branković . She was a despoina . In the Middle Ages, the title of despot, which was reserved for the higher aristocracy, arose in Byzantium. The feminine form Despoina denotes a female despot or the wife of a despot. According to tradition, Angelina was the daughter of Gjergj Arianiti (Komnini) or daughter or sister of Georg Kastriota and in November 1460 she became the wife of the blinded Serbian despot Stefan Branković, who fled Serbian territory because of inheritance disputes . With this she fathered two sons Đorđe and Jovan and a daughter named Marija. After fleeing from what is now Albania , she lived in Italy with her family, Branković, from 1461 . Her husband died there, and when she returned to Southeastern Europe in 1486, she buried his bones in the Srem region in a church built for him. She became a nun in the women's monastery she founded near the Krušedol monastery in Fruška Gora . Today she is buried here with her son Jovan.

She was considered very educated and her name can be found in several written mentions and dedications. Their icons are represented in several churches. The famous Serbian realist Paja Jovanović also captured his ideal of Angelina on oil, which is exhibited in the Saborna crkva in Vršac .
