Angelo Michele Besseghi (* 1670 in Bologna , † 1744 in Paris ) was an Italian composer and violinist.

Life

Angelo Besseghi, also often spelled Bezegui, came to Paris in 1684 and was chef de la musique with the Chevalier Louis Fagon (1680–1744), a State Councilor and Intendant des Finances . Besseghi broke his left arm in a fall, as a result of which he could no longer play a musical instrument. Fagon entrusted him with another job that ensured him a lifelong livelihood.

From his violin sonatas Op. 1, there is a copy in the holdings of the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin . According to François-Joseph Fétis , he also published a book with harpsichord music.
