Gina María Parody d'Echeona (born November 13, 1973 in Bogotá ) is a Colombian politician of the Partido Social de Unidad Nacional and lawyer .

Life

Parody studied law at the Pontifical University of Xaveriana and worked as a lawyer after graduating. Parody was director of the Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje (SENA) in Colombia from March 6, 2013 to August 20, 2014, succeeding Luis Alfonso Hoyos Aristizábal . As a politician, she was a member of the House of Representatives of Colombia from July 20, 2002 to July 20, 2006 and a senator in the Senate from July 20, 2006 to January 19, 2009 . In 2011 she lost to Gustavo Petro in the Bogotá mayoral election . Parody has been Minister of Education in Colombia under President Juan Manuel Santos since August 20, 2014 . Her life partner is the Colombian Minister of Economic Affairs, Cecilia Álvarez-Correa .
