AGIT - Symposium and Trade Fair for Applied Geoinformatics
The AGIT - Symposium and Exhibition on Applied Geoinformatics - is a forum for German-speaking GIS - users . The organizer is the Interfaculty Geoinformatics Department - Z_GIS ( formerly: Center for GeoInformatics ) at the University of Salzburg and the Austrian Umbrella Association for Geographic Information ( AGEO ).
AGIT is the name of a series of GIS conferences that have been held annually at the University of Salzburg since 1988 . The series of congresses, which is designed for the entire German-speaking area and neighboring countries, was initiated by the geographer and geospatial specialist Josef Strobl .
The three-day event includes around 200 lectures, workshops and special forums in 8–10 parallel sessions on the topics of applied geoinformatics , GDI: infrastructures and geo-referenced services, dynamic modeling and simulation, location-based services, surveying, remote sensing and cartographic communication. Content-related topics are geoGovernment, spatial planning, traffic, natural space and landscape, environment and medicine, security and disaster management, supply and disposal. Discussions and the AGIT EXPO trade fair are further components of the conference program.
