AGEO
AGEO is the usual abbreviation of the Austrian umbrella association for geographic information . The "A" stands for both " Arbeitsgemeinschaft " and " Austria ".
Members of the AGEO are numerous institutions located or mainly active in Austria that are concerned with the application or development of land or geographic information systems. Among other things, AGEO organizes a series of symposia under the name AGIT .
Individual membership is not intended.
The AGEO is interdisciplinary and was created in the 1990s on the initiative of geodesists , two federal offices and some state governments . It bundles the regional GI interested parties and takes on their representation within Austria and in international organizations.
By informing the public about geoinformation and promoting initiatives for further technical and methodological development, Austria is to become an even stronger GIS location.
