Anglo-Lutheran Catholic Church
The Augustana Catholic Church ( Katholische Kirche AB , formerly: Anglo-Lutheran Catholic Church , Anglo-Lutheran Catholic Church , ALCC) is a Lutheran church founded in 1997 by members of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod . It is theologically influenced by the high church and strives for a corporate union with the Roman Catholic Church . Archbishoprics and dioceses of the Augustana Catholic Church are located in the United States, Europe, and Africa. According to its own information, it has over 50,000 members worldwide.
Teaching
The Augustana Catholic Church counts among her confessional foundations Luther Great and Small Catechism and the Augsburg Confession as well as the Thirty-nine Articles of the Church of England and these formulations of faith interprets the Reformation period in accordance with the Roman Catholic faith as it in the Catechism of the Catholic Church is set out . She expressly accepts the primacy and infallibility of the Pope . She does not understand Lutheranism as Protestantism , but as a reform movement that has involuntarily left the Catholic Church and whose goal is a return to unity. Pastors and bishops of the Augustana Catholic Church are ordained in apostolic succession . The ordination of women and practicing homosexuals is rejected.
Efforts to join the Roman Catholic Church
In May 2009, the ALCC sent an official petition to the Holy See for membership in the Roman Catholic Church. This is a separate request from the Petition of the Traditional Anglican Communion .
