The attack on the Pakistani base in Salala was a NATO air strike on the Pakistani base in Salala in the tribal area under federal administration of Mohamad near the Afghan border on November 26, 2011. Between 24 and 26 Pakistani soldiers were killed and between 13 and 27 soldiers were wounded. The bombardment lasted two hours.

The liquidation of Osama bin Laden by US units on Pakistani territory had previously caused diplomatic difficulties.

Reactions

Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and Pakistan's Defense Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar protested. The border to Afghanistan was closed to NATO transports. In addition, the Pakistani government boycotted the Afghanistan conference that took place shortly afterwards in Bonn. The US Army was requested by the Pakistani government to evacuate the Shamsi air base in Balochistan within 15 days.

In response to the attacks, Difa-e Pakistan , an Islamist Pakistani organization, was established.

The United States suspended drone strikes in Pakistan . The last one was flown on November 17th, nine days before the attacks in Salalah. They were only resumed on the night of January 10-11, 2012 with an attack near Miranshah .

It was not until April 12, 2012 that the Pakistani parliament approved a restricted reopening of the supply routes. On June 5th, the Pakistani government reopened it.
