Angurate
Anguraté (from anhuaraté ) is a tea made from the medicinal plant Mentzelia cordifolia , which grows mainly in Peru.
history
Anguraté tea has been used in Peru for centuries as a folk medicine for gastrointestinal disorders, coughs, stones and liver diseases. Stems, twig tips and roots are used. In 1895 the plant was herbarized . However, due to the narrow regional distribution and the low harvest volumes, the plant remained undiscovered for a long time. Since the plant is difficult to cultivate, harvests come mainly from wild growth. In the 1950s, the plant was discovered, examined by the Instituto sanitas in Lima and also offered as a medicinal tea in Germany.
ingredients
Anguraté has anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, mucous membrane-protecting properties, but also gastric juice-activating and digestive properties. Various flavone compounds , coumarins , bitter and slimy substances, β-sitosterol and essential oils are probably responsible for this.
application
The tea is available in Germany as loose tea and in tea bags as well as in capsule form. Research has shown that there is rapid improvement in the various forms of gastrointestinal diseases. Healing of gastric ulcers could not be proven radiologically, but studies indicate that there is a protective effect against the formation of gastric ulcers.
Anguraté is used for mild gastrointestinal disorders such as bloating, indigestion, flatulence, occasional heartburn and an upset stomach. To date, however, a medical effect has not been proven.
