AniCura is a European provider of veterinary care for pets. The originally Swedish group of companies was taken over by Mars in November 2018 . AniCura operates veterinary clinics , veterinary practices and veterinary centers in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands. AniCura consists of more than 270 facilities with an annual patient volume of over 2.5 million pets , predominantly dogs and cats.
Around 5500 employees work for AniCura. This includes over 2000 veterinarians. The company has an annual turnover of around 4 billion Swedish kronor (approx. 400 million euros). The company is based in Danderyd , Sweden.
Business model
Most AniCura facilities offer specialized veterinary care. This includes specialist areas such as internal medicine , surgery , orthopedics , ophthalmology , neurology , dentistry and dermatology .
AniCura is expanding mainly through the acquisition of already established veterinary clinics, which will continue to be run as relatively independent units in the corporate association.
In 2015, the AniCura research fund was founded with the aim of enabling and promoting clinical research within the company.
In the same year QualiCura, its own program for quality assurance in medical care for patients, was introduced. With the annual Quality Report, AniCura is the first group in veterinary medicine to make such a report available to the public.

In 2011, AniCura, then known as Djursjukhusgruppen , was established as the first association of veterinary clinics and veterinary practices in Northern Europe.
In 2011, AniCura established its presence in Sweden. Norway followed in 2012, Denmark in 2013, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands in 2015. Switzerland followed in 2016.
